Gareth’s goal is that each client leaves their Personal Training session feeling strong, positive and energized. He has a wealth of Personal Training experience, and his clients have come to expect a fully optimised, dynamic programme tailored specifically to their requirements.
Gareth’s ability to achieve results safely within realistic timescales has led him to gain recognition from London’s top Model agency “Premier Model Management”. He has featured in magazines ranging from: ID, Clash, Dazed & Confused and Harrods magazine, whilst also contributing his unique methods, and original training concepts to many personal fitness publications.
The exposure that this forum gave Gareth, coupled with his realistic, no-nonsense and highly effective style has enabled him to train some of London’s busy high profile professionals tailoring bespoke programmes that were not only achievable, but delivered outstanding aesthetic results.
Gareth continues to broaden his knowledge within the health and fitness industry to ensure all of his clients benefit from an excellent workout that is challenging, motivating and fun.
ROB AITKEN | SENIOR TRAINER
Rob has enjoyed participating in sport and exercise from early childhood. He pursued this interest from an academic perspective and attained a degree in Sports and Exercise Science from the University of Bath.
During his studies Rob was offered the opportunity to work with the Strength Conditioning Team at Leicester Tigers Rugby Club on a 14-month work placement; here he gained invaluable experience in the application of exercise science.
Immediately after finishing his degree Rob began working as a Personal Trainer in Kensington. He carried on his work as a strength coach in London working with the academy squad at Saracens Rugby Club. In addition to this, he continued to broaden his knowledge base by spending time working with the Amateur Rowing Association as a Sports Development Coach.
However, it was working with his personal training clients that Rob found most rewarding. Since joining Matt Roberts he has continued to develop his skills as a trainer and now with over 6 years experience in the exercise industry he has the right tools to ensure that his clients achieve their goals.
To keep himself in good health Rob enjoys amateur football and plays regularly for a local team throughout the winter league. One of his biggest achievements to date, however, took place in the summer of 2007 when he and a friend completed a ‘Deca-Ironman’ to raise £50,000 for Leukaemia research. The challenge took 3 weeks to complete and involved running 10 marathons in 10 days! Now, suitably rested, Rob enjoys competing in shorter Triathlons throughout the summer.
SAM MARKHAM | SENIOR TRAINER
Sam’s previous involvement in pro youth football, both in coaching and playing, has implemented a clear understanding of the high standards expected within elite personal training. Partnered with a keen interest in Physical Training Development and Human Anatomy, Sam pursued his Personal Training qualifications at the Matt Roberts Academy. Since graduating in 2009 he now has over 3000 hours of client training at Matt Roberts.
Sam has experience with a dynamic range of abilities and conditions. As such, he specialises in training programmes for fat loss and strength and conditioning. Furthermore, Sam has gained expertise in post and pre-natal training, injury prevention and rehabilitation and exercise for mature clientele. Sam has developed into a well rounded training professional who excels in delivering motivating, energetic and educative sessions and works closely with many high profile professionals.
KAREN WEIR | GROUP ENDURANCE COACH
After 12 years of working in the Financial Services industry in the City and a burgeoning interest (and participation in) endurance sports Karen retrained to become a Personal Trainer with Matt Roberts.
In 2003, on a bit of a whim she signed up for the London Marathon, joined a running club to help her train and has not looked back since. Six years on, running and fitness have become a part of her life and Karen is keen to extol the benefits to everyone. This enthusiastic nature has seen her take on a volunteering role as Event Director for a weekly 5km run in Richmond Park as well as completing her UK Athletics Level 2 Coaching qualification so she can coach athletes at her running club. It was also this desire to help people achieve their own fitness goals that led Karen to personal training.
Since running her first marathon, Karen has gone on to complete 5 others and has also branched out into multi-sport, taking part in and coaching triathlon. Karen is an Ironman having completed her first Ironman in Austria in 2010 and has completed the Enduro Challenge; a team based ultra-triathlon from London to Paris. Her personal experiences of such endurance events combined with her coaching, personal training and sports massage qualifications mean Karen is well placed to train and coach clients seeking to undertake endurance events or just improve their general health and fitness.

VICKY SMITH | PERSONAL TRAINER
After studying dance and performing arts to an Elementary standard for 15 years Vicky was keen to progress her interest and abilities in fitness through additional studio classes and personal training sessions.
Previously working in the City, Vicky aspired to a career which saw her combine her passion for exercise with her enthusiasm for helping others achieve their goals and improve their health and lifestyle. Subsequently she studied for her Personal Training qualification in 2010.
Since qualifying she has continued to develop her skills with certificates in studio class instruction; including Spinning, Aerobics, Body Combat, Body Pump and Step Aerobics.
While at Matt Roberts Vicky has utilised her passion, dedication and enthusiasm to improve the health and wellbeing of her clients by consistently helping them to achieve their goals from weight loss through to pre and post natal exercise and general conditioning.
CONOR MCGOLDRICK | PERSONAL TRAINER
Conor completes his BSc (Hons) in Sport and Exercise science from the University of Ulster, Jordanstown, and is finishing his Masters in Strength and Conditioning at Middlesex University.
As a NASM Personal Trainer, a certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) and an Accredited Strength and Conditioning Coach (ASCC) Conor has provided strength and conditioning support to various teams and athletes; including The Royal Yachting Association (Northern Ireland), Ulster Squash Development Squad, Tyrone Senior Gaelic Football Team and 3 international Taekwondo athletes.
Conor believes that integrating the latest in exercise science into programmes developed for his clients’ needs, their true potential will be effectively unlocked and achieved. Conor enjoys training clients who train hard and enjoy working towards their goals.
BEN ONIONS | PERSONAL TRAINER
Ben is a Premier qualified Personal Trainer (REPS Level 3), CSIA level 2 qualified Ski Instructor and was a team leader in the Army Air Corps for eight years before gaining experience in recruitment for the Banking Sector.
Ben has a passion for fitness and sport and loves to see results in his work. Ben can help you achieve YOUR fitness goals, whether your focus is on losing weight, gaining muscle, increasing flexibility, corrective exercise, or training for your favourite sport or hobby. Ben will help devise you a creative workout plan to help you reach your targets in an effective manner by providing the motivation and expertise you need in sometimes tough, but always safe and enjoyable varied sessions.
Ben caters efficiently for all abilities; however, the areas in which he most enjoys training are specific events, injury rehabilitation, strength training and he specialises in Ski-fit training.
HARRY FISHER | PERSONAL TRAINER
Harry has been involved in sport all his life and reached county and regional level in volleyball, cricket and tennis. At an early age he realized that he was interested in the different training modalities that go into the sports he was playing, and this made him decide to become a personal trainer; whilst also undertaking a BSc in sports science. He started working as a freelance personal trainer in 2006, working with recreational athletes, sportsmen and the general public.
Harry then decided to continue his studies and recently completed an MSc in strength and conditioning. During this time he was given the opportunity to work alongside the sports science team at Watford Football Club, on a season long placement, where he gained invaluable experience in strength and conditioning in a professional real life setting. Since then he has become a full Accredited Strength and Conditioning Coach from the UKSCA. This lead him to working as a strength and conditioning coach at the University of East London and working with elite sportsmen; including national level gymnasts, Paralympians, GB track and field athletes, county cricket players, BBL basketball players and professional footballers.
The basis of Harry’s training is very scientific with the use of bodyweight and free weights, focusing on the big primal movements of the body – whether you are training for a sport, or just to cope better with the demands of everyday life – the movement patterns are the same: Push, Pull, Squat, Lunge, Bend, Twist - Focus on these movements and you’ll do okay.
Harry is also very knowledgeable in the nutritional aspect of performance enhancement and weight-loss, and how changes to your diet affect hormones and where fat is distributed around the body.
LUKE WEAL | PERSONAL TRAINER
Competing in a range of sports and martial arts from a young age lead Luke into the world of gym based exercise to supplement and enhance his performance.
This, in turn, sparked a passion for exercise and physical development; so Luke decided to pursue a career in health and fitness.
Luke adopts a calm and thorough approach to focus on developing functional health and aesthetics. He delivering training that enhances client’s performance, physical appearance, and wellbeing.
THOMAS CHAMBERS | PERSONAL TRAINER
Tom has always had a passion for sports and fitness with a background in competitive squash. Representing Buckinghamshire in a successful county junior side for 6 years, Tom now plays in the Middlesex leagues for Uxbridge Squash Club.
After graduating with an Art History degree from Oxford Brookes University and working in the auction industry for 3 years, he decided to change careers in 2009 and follow his passion and talents into Personal Training.
Tom really took to his studying and has gained a clear knowledge of anatomy, training methods, principles and ways of applying these skills to get the most out of a session for the benefit of the client and the push toward realising their goals. Tom believes that no trainer is complete and is always looking for new theory, practices, science and influences to incorporate into programming and building up his repertoire so that clients always get challenged, pushed and leave their workout closer to their goal.
Tom takes great pride in his work and he is highly motivated by helping clients make improvements to their lives and reach their goals. You can expect a challenging, fun and relevant training session from this results orientated trainer. Other interests of note include, films, socializing, history and current events and most sports including golf, fishing, football, darts, snooker, tennis,. Tom is a lifelong Ipswich Town Football fan!
BEN FEINSON | PERSONAL TRAINER
Sport, health and well being have always been an influential and important aspect within Ben’s life and were responsible for inspiring him to become a Personal Trainer. Since qualifying from Premier Training Ben has worked as a strength and conditioning coach for a local Basketball team in conjunction with furthering his Personal Training experience; and it was this aspect of fitness that he found most rewarding. Helping clients with their day to day fitness and functional strength as well as assisting them to reach their goals, whatever they are, is where Ben finds true gratification.
