ANNA MILANI | CLUB MANAGER
Anna gained a B.A. (Hons) in Contemporary Dance at The London Contemporary Dance School, before studying Personal Training and Massage. These combined subjects have given her a deep insight into Anatomy and Physiology, as well as the science and prescription of exercise. Her wealth of experience in teaching, movement and treatment has given her unique understanding into the individual’s psychology relating to adherence to exercise, and the successful attainment of goals.
Whether you need to tone up, lower your body fat, get stronger, increase your flexibility, prepare for an event or recover from an injury, Anna’s approach will get you there efficiently and effectively. She strongly believes that it’s never too late to start exercising, and that with a positive frame of mind anything can be achieved.
She has trained a broad range of clients over the years, previously specialising in disciplines as varied as Callisthenics, Powerlifting, Boxing and Kinesis. Anna recognises that every single client exercises for a different reason and has a different goal, and with this in mind always delivers training which is specific to your needs.
IAN MELLIS MSc CSCS | TECHNICAL DIRECTOR
Ian Mellis MSc CSCS gained his undergraduate BSc (Hons.) in Sports Science from Bangor University. He completed his postgraduate MSc in Sport Science: Assessment and Support at Roehampton University. Further to this he is a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) through the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA).
Specialising in athletic development, rehabilitation strategies and physique transformation Ian has well over 10,000 hours of helping individuals and teams achieve optimum physical health and performance working in tandem with athletes, nutritionists, physiotherapists and other allied health professionals up to an international level.
Ian has worked with Matt Roberts Personal Training since 2003 and has worked on a wide range of projects and health initiatives.
STEVE DOGBE | SENIOR TRAINER
Steve is a former Professional Footballer, who played at a high standard at Luton Town F.C. for three years. His passion for the game led to him into the role of Football Association coach for children and adults, and here he was able to develop his interest in optimum health and fitness for peak performance. Still wishing to increase his knowledge and abilities, Steve then followed up his coaching awards with a Diploma in Personal Training with Premier Global.
Steve is a qualified Spinning and Boxercise instructor. He has specialised in Exercise Referral Consultancy, during which time he advised and trained people with a variety of conditions, from Arthritis and Asthma, to Diabetes and Hypertension.
Steve enjoys training enthusiastic and determined individuals who are driven by a long term goal. He takes pleasure in helping people achieve the results they desire, although he has always believed that fitness should focus not just on physical appearance, but also on inner wellbeing.
Outside of the gym, Steve is a keen sportsman, enjoying his own brand of circuit training as well as Rugby, Amateur Boxing and Athletics. His main passion is still Football however, and he is currently playing semi-professionally for St Neots Town F.C.
SHELLEY MORRIS | PERSONAL TRAINER
Shelley was a keen athlete for many years before she became a personal trainer, participating competitively in swimming and sprinting as a young adult, and recreationally in rock climbing, abseiling, pot holing and canoeing. She has studied Anatomy and Physiology at University, where she was a member of the Sports Club Association and thus worked closely with the university Rugby, Football and American football teams, where she gained a deeper insight into performance and injuries.
It was in 2006 that Shelley completed her Personal Training and Sports massage qualifications with Premier Global. After this time she worked for two years at a Personal Training studio in Middlesex, where she gleaned more valuable experience in issues surrounding posture, injury and rehabilitation.
Shelley’s training style is both functional and fun. The combination of her positive outlook, patient nature and enthusiastic approach enables her to create dynamic sessions which are suited to the individual needs of her clients. When she is not working at Matt Roberts, she is either instructing classes in toning and circuit training or attending Gravity and Spinning classes.
JAMES COLLINGWOOD | PERSONAL TRAINER
James gained his BSc (Hons) in sport and exercise science from Brighton University. Currently James is finishing his masters in strength and conditioning at Middlesex University.
Further to this James is a certified strength and conditioning specialist (CSCS) through the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA) and an accredited strength and conditioning coach (ASCC) with the UK Strength and Conditioning Association (UKSCA). Alongside James' strength and conditioning he is also a corrective exercise specialist (CES) with the NASM.
James has always had a passion for sport and has played multiple sports ranging from squash, rugby and cricket to name a few. Alongside James' own competitive sporting experiences he has worked as a strength and conditioning coach with a range of athletes including professional football teams, junior international rugby players and endurance runners.
James believes that by integrating corrective exercise into strength and conditioning programs that are tailored to the clients needs will enable their true potential to be unlocked and acheievd. James enjoys training clients who train hard and enjoy working towards their goals.
FRED SAVILL | PERSONAL TRAINER
Fred Savill is a CYQ Level 3 Qualified Personal Trainer with certificates for Circuit Training, Training in Different Environments and Nutritional Advice, and has previously worked in large health club chains and small private gyms, as well as for the NHS as a Health Trainer, and has worked with a wide range of clients of all ages, fitness levels and backgrounds.
Fred has a passion for all types of exercise and enjoys all sorts of challenges, especially the out of the ordinary, such as his upcoming “Maldon Mud race,” as well as previous events including an 80-mile bike ride, a team marathon and a strongman contest.
Fred has a unique insight into the mindset of many clients wishing to lose weight and improve their fitness from his own personal experiences.
For the future, Fred plans to continue expanding his knowledge and skills in order to offer the best service possible to clients, with courses including Strength and Conditioning Coach with the UKSCA.
Fred understands that everybody has vastly different exercise needs, lifestyles and commitments and therefore aims to tailor every individual’s training specifically for them rather than following a one-size-fits-all approach. Fred enjoys training people who work hard but he also tries to put emphasis on an often overlooked aspect of exercise- fun!
PHIL JONES | PERSONAL TRAINER
Phil prides himself on being a well-rounded trainer. An avid gym goer since he reached the age where he could join his first health club.
Phil has an infectious passion for all things health and fitness. Not one to shy away from competition, he has trained and competed in a variety of sports, ranging from middle distance running, wrestling and Brazilian jiu jitsu, and strongman.
Qualified to REPS level 3 as an Advanced Personal trainer with Premier Global, Phil is now training to become an expert in flexibility and posture by completing an advanced Pilates course. Personal sporting interests and hobbies include Brazilian jiu jitsu, strongman training (think tractor tyres and logs!), Olympic lifting, cross fit, and any other sporting pursuit as long as it is gruelling and intense!
CLODAGH LOUGHNANE | PERSONAL TRAINER
Clodagh has been involved in sports since a very young age, competing in athletics and a number of field sports for her schools and colleges. Her passion however lies in horse riding which she has been involved in for over 15 years. She has competed at a high level in most disciplines including show-jumping and cross country riding.
It was from competing in this sport that Clodagh began to realise and appreciate the importance of fitness and a healthy body. After beginning a career in the property business she soon decided that she wanted to pursue a career in the fitness industry. She now has her Level 3 in Personal Training as well as qualifications in circuit training, spinning, boxercise and sport nutrition. Clodagh’s understanding and love of sport and fitness gives her the ability to deliver functional and tailored workouts that will help any type of person achieve their goals. She is aware that everybody has different needs and different capabilities and always adapts programmes to suit the client best and to make sure the client gets the most from every session. She believes that good training should not be to only improve fitness and appearance but to improve a person’s standard of life and make them feel great about themselves!
WILLIAM MCLINTOCK | PERSONAL TRAINER
Will’s training philosophy encompasses a balanced approach yielding both visible and internal benefits. Whether you seek improved energy in your day-to-day life or superior performance on the sports field, with a tailored programme he will address any specific conditions and issues that are currently blocking your progress. An expert in functional ‘real life’ training, body shape change and weight management, Will has worked with a wide variety of clients ranging from exercise novices, people with degenerative conditions to professional athletes. He can provide you with the knowledge, support and motivation to enable you to achieve your goals.
Educated to Masters Degree level, with a Level 3 Personal Training qualification, Will has chosen to follow his love of all things health and fitness. His spare time revolves around his passion for sports and training. He has played Rugby Union, playing semi-professionally in the National Leagues from the age of 19 and captaining his University 1st XV. Will has trained extensively in Mixed Martial Arts and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and competes regularly, winning gold at the English Championship in 2011. He complements this with regular Pilates sessions and is currently learning Olympic weightlifting.
NEIL HAGERTY | PERSONAL TRAINER
Neil’s driven ethos stems from core values learnt in the military. As a former soldier Neil is well aware of what is required to achieve the desired results. As a great motivator he will ensure you get the best out of yourself, reach your required goals and instil a long-lasting impression. As a former England international in Rugby union, Neil played from the age of seven and has always been sports orientated with a passion for the fitness industry and sport in general. Neil is a huge football fan and a student of the game of golf.
Neil is a qualified REPS level 3 advanced personal trainer and will strive to achieve any goals a client requires, which is where his other qualifications in gym based boxing, spinning, nutrition and circuit training will come in to play. Never one to shy away from a challenge, Neil is thorough in his approach and caters for each client uniquely.
