ANNA MILANI | CLUB MANAGER

 

Anna gained a B.A. (Hons) in Contemporary Dance at The London Contemporary Dance School, before studying Personal Training and Massage. These combined subjects have given her a deep insight into Anatomy and Physiology, as well as the science and prescription of exercise. Her wealth of experience in teaching, movement and treatment has given her unique understanding into the individual’s psychology relating to adherence to exercise, and the successful attainment of goals.

Whether you need to tone up, lower your body fat, get stronger, increase your flexibility, prepare for an event or recover from an injury, Anna’s approach will get you there efficiently and effectively. She strongly believes that it’s never too late to start exercising, and that with a positive frame of mind anything can be achieved.

She has trained a broad range of clients over the years, previously specialising in disciplines as varied as Callisthenics, Powerlifting, Boxing and Kinesis. Anna recognises that every single client exercises for a different reason and has a different goal, and with this in mind always delivers training which is specific to your needs.

IAN MELLIS MSc CSCS | TECHNICAL DIRECTOR

 

Ian Mellis MSc CSCS gained his undergraduate BSc (Hons.) in Sports Science from Bangor University. He completed his postgraduate MSc in Sport Science: Assessment and Support at Roehampton University. Further to this he is a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) through the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA).

Specialising in athletic development, rehabilitation strategies and physique transformation Ian has well over 10,000 hours of helping individuals and teams achieve optimum physical health and performance working in tandem with athletes, nutritionists, physiotherapists and other allied health professionals up to an international level.

Ian has worked with Matt Roberts Personal Training since 2003 and has worked on a wide range of projects and health initiatives. He can be contacted through the Matt Roberts Personal Training Academy on .

STEVE DOGBE | SENIOR TRAINER

 

Steve is a former Professional Footballer, who played at a high standard at Luton Town F.C. for three years. His passion for the game led to him into the role of Football Association coach for children and adults, and here he was able to develop his interest in optimum health and fitness for peak performance. Still wishing to increase his knowledge and abilities, Steve then followed up his coaching awards with a Diploma in Personal Training with Premier Global.

Steve is a qualified Spinning and Boxercise instructor. He has specialised in Exercise Referral Consultancy, during which time he advised and trained people with a variety of conditions, from Arthritis and Asthma, to Diabetes and Hypertension.

Steve enjoys training enthusiastic and determined individuals who are driven by a long term goal. He takes pleasure in helping people achieve the results they desire, although he has always believed that fitness should focus not just on physical appearance, but also on inner wellbeing.

Outside of the gym, Steve is a keen sportsman, enjoying his own brand of circuit training as well as Rugby, Amateur Boxing and Athletics. His main passion is still Football however, and he is currently playing semi-professionally for St Neots Town F.C.

JORDAN CALLAGHAN | SENIOR TRAINER

 

Jordan's passion for fitness developed when he started Ty-Ga Karate at the age of six. By the age of 11 he was recognised as the youngest Black Belt 1st Dan grade in Europe at that time. Shortly afterward, he turned his attention to traditional (Queensbury Rules) Boxing. He has fought competitively in both disciplines.

Combining his love of exercise and competition with a desire to teach, he completed his Personal Training Diploma in 2005. He worked as an independent trainer before working as a studio instructor and Personal Trainer at the BBC for one year.

Jordan's main activity at present is Breakdancing, and his strength and conditioning training is geared towards his continued improvement in this discipline. He is also currently sampling new styles and clubs, as he is keen to start another martial art.

MATT HODGES | PERSONAL TRAINER

 

Matt has always been a keen skier and rockclimber, and as a teenager played tennis for his county. His main area of interest now lies in natural bodybuilding, strength and conditioning, and the diet-related factors that surround these niche areas.

Studying at Loughborough University, Matt was surrounded by some of the UK's top Athletes. After achieving a diploma in Personal Training and Sports Massage Therapy from Premier Global, Matt became a successful freelance Personal Trainer and through this experience he has progressed into a well rounded professional in the field of health and fitness.

Matt is dedicated to his own training, and in 2008 he was awarded sponsorship from L.A. Muscle, and became a notable figure in the UK fitness modelling industry. He has made many appearances on television and has also featured on the pages of some of the UK's top fitness publications and attracted some household names as clients. He also writes a fitness column for an online men's magazine.

Having experienced injury first hand, Matt is well aware of the frustrations and anxieties suffered by those returning to exercise after a rest period. His dedication, knowledge and drive, is clearly visible in his sessions; he aims to get the most out of every client, helping them to reach their full potential in an enjoyable, motivational way.

SHELLEY MORRIS | PERSONAL TRAINER

 

Shelley was a keen athlete for many years before she became a personal trainer, participating competitively in swimming and sprinting as a young adult, and recreationally in rock climbing, abseiling, pot holing and canoeing. She has studied Anatomy and Physiology at University, where she was a member of the Sports Club Association and thus worked closely with the university Rugby, Football and American football teams, where she gained a deeper insight into performance and injuries.

It was in 2006 that Shelley completed her Personal Training and Sports massage qualifications with Premier Global. After this time she worked for two years at a Personal Training studio in Middlesex, where she gleaned more valuable experience in issues surrounding posture, injury and rehabilitation.

Shelley’s training style is both functional and fun. The combination of her positive outlook, patient nature and enthusiastic approach enables her to create dynamic sessions which are suited to the individual needs of her clients. When she is not working at Matt Roberts, she is either instructing classes in toning and circuit training or attending Gravity and Spinning classes.

LIAM SHINKWIN | PERSONAL TRAINER

 

As a professional boxer, Liam has gained first hand the knowledge and experience required to transform the body and achieve its full potential through training, whether it be to run a personal best or to simply lose a few pounds.

From an early age Liam had a passion for health and fitness, as a result he developed a very competitive nature, always having to arm wrestle everyone in the classroom! It was due to this he decided to try his luck in the ring and became an amateur boxer. He went on to represent England on numerous occasions as a junior, the pinnacle - taking home a Silver medal from the Junior Olympics in Michigan, USA, 2002.

Boxing aside, Liam trained for two years at Toni & Guy to be a hairdresser before deciding to ditch the scissors and earn a living doing what he knew best and became a personal trainer. He is both Premier and NASM qualified and is in the process of completing his Masters in Sports Conditioning, again with Premier.

Liam truly believes that with the correct exercise prescription and programming, any goal or dream is possible! He takes a lot of pride in his work, ensuring his sessions are fast, fun and effective, tailoring all programmes to meet the individuals’ needs.

CATHERINE MILNER | PERSONAL TRAINER

 

Catherine is a competitive runner with experience of both road and cross country events representing her athletics club. More recently she has turned her attention to triathlons and has participated in a number of events including the British Club Relay Championships.

Her interest in sports began from a young age when she swam competitively for her club and later took up running. She now enjoys competing in various events. Recent successes include competing in a team of three to win 1st placed team in the Golden Gates 10k run in the Peak District and 3rd place in a local 5k event at Regent’s Park.

Catherine’s enjoyment of exercise and competition lead her to gain a diploma in Personal Training from Premier Global. She has also been published in Running Fitness magazine. She enjoys training outdoors and leads the Matt Roberts Hampstead running club for beginners and intermediates. She has a relaxed style of training and believes that exercise should be fun, motivational and geared towards achieving goals.
